South Urals Mountains 

The Ural Mountains (the Urals) are located in the north-west Russia. They lie between the East European and West Siberian plains. The length of the Ural Mountain range is more than 2000km, in width - from 40 to 150km. The highest point in the Urals is Mount Narodnaya (1895m), it is located in the Circumpolar Urals), in the South Urals - Mount Yamantau (1640m). The Urals appeared about 600 million years ago.

АджигардакAdzhigardak (734m) 
Adzhigardak Ridge is located at the junction of Middle and South Urals. Adzhigardak is at 734m height above sea level. The northern slopes of Adzhigardak go down to the River Sim

Alexander Hill is a low mountain. It is located within the Uraltau ridge watershed on the border of Europe and Asia. When you visit the Alexandrovskaya hill you can see mountain sights


Аракуль (шихан)

Arakul (Sheehan) (563m) 
Mount Arakul is often called “Sheehan”. It is located practically in the midway between Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg, not far from the town of Kasli. Sheehan as it is - a small, 
remarkably picturesque rocky outlier.

Vishnevaya (580m) 
Mount Vishnevaya is at height of about 580m above sea level. It is located on the eastern slope of the Ural Mountain range near the town of Vishnevogorsk. Mount Vishnevaya is covered by forests consisting of pines, larches and birches.

Mount Dvuglavaya is the first peak of Bolshoy (Big) Taganay ridge in the south, it has two distinct tops of practically the same height of 1034m and 1041m. One of the tops is called «Per'ya»("the Feathers")

Otkliknoy (Response) Ridge (1155m) 
Otkliknoy ridge (Perekliknoy ravine, Big Ridge, Otkliknaya ) is an element of Bolshoy Taganay range, its second peak on Zlatoust side. Otkliknoy is located in 16km north-north-east of the city of Zlatoust

Dalny (Far) Taganay (1112 m) 
Mount Far Taganay closes the Bolshoy Taganay ridge in the north. The top is at a height of 1112m above sea level. The top of Far Taganay is a "wind pole" of the continental part of Eurasia

КруглицаKruglitsa (1178m) 
Mount Kruglitsa is of the highest point of the Bolshoy Taganay ringe at 1178m. Mount Kruglitsa is located 15km from the city of Zlatoust, between Mount Far Taganay in the north and Otkliknoy ridge in the south. Kruglitsa is a dome piled up of large stones. 

Заозерный хребетZaozerny Ridge (Mount Varganova, Pugachevka) (750m) 
Zaozerny Ridge, at 750meters, lies between the Ilmensky and Uraltau ranges. Mount Varganova is a part of Zaozerny Ridge, although it stands somewhat by itself in some distance. 

ЗигальгаZigalga (1489m) 
Zigalga ridge is located in the central, most mountainous part of the South Urals. Geographically the highest point of the ridge is Mount Bolshoy Shelom (1489m). The average height of Zigalga massif is in no less than1000m 

ЗюраткульZyuratkul (1175m) 
Zyuratkul Ridge and Lake Zyuratkul are located in the southern part of Satkinsky district of Chelyabinsk region, 200km west of Chelyabinsk, and 30km from the nearest towns – the town of Satka and the town of Bakal.

Ильменский хребетIlmensky Ridge (753m) 
Ilmensky mountains is a group of ridges near the city of Miass in the South Urals in Chelyabinsk region,Russia. Mount Ilmentau is the highest peak , at 753m, the second highest peak is Mount Ishkul , at a height of 660m .

ИремельBolshoy (Big) Iremel (1582m) 
Big Iremel is the pearl of the South Urals; it lies on the border of Chelyabinsk region and the Republic of Bashkortostan. Iremel is a two-headed massif: these are Big Iremel, at a height of 1582meters and Maly Iremel, at 1449m 

ИцылMount Itsyl (1049m) 
Mount Itsyl is situated near the village of Tyelga (in the area of the city of Miass). Itsyl is at a height of 1049meters above sea level. According to the structure and composition of rocks Itsyl is the typical summit of the South Urals. The only, though not so very big, difference of kurumniks of Itsyl from the other ones is( Kurumnik - so local people call any stone screes (moraines), regardless of the size of their stones )

Mount Magnitnaya is located on the eastern slope of the South Urals, in its descending to the steppes of Orenburg part. Mount Magnitnaya elevation was 616meters. Mount Magnitnaya gave its name to a group of hills (Atach, Dalnyaya, Uzyanka, Ezhovka, Berezovaya)

КарабашMount Mednaya (Copper) (430m) 
Karabash is a real name of the extremely rich in minerals mountain at a height of 430.6meters and the located at its foot town. Another mountain, which is called Zolotaya (Golden), rises above the town of Karabash.

НуралиNurali  (752 m) 
Nurali ridge is about 10km long, 2km in width from foot to foot, the highest point of the ridge, at 752m above sea level, 300 meters up from the foot of Nurali ridge, is located in Uchalinsky district of Bashkiria 

НургушNurgush (1406 m) 
Nurgush is the highest ridge of Chelyabinsk region. The average height of the ridge is 
1200m above sea level, maximum - 1406m. The ridge Nurgush stretches from north-east to south-west for about 50km

Уральская сопкаUralskaya Hill (873 m) 
Uralskaya Hill is one of the peaks of the northern extremity of the Ural mountain range. 
Its elevation is 873m. It is located 7kilometers north-north-east of the Urzhumka railway station, not very far from the Alexandrovskaya hill. 
УреньгаUrenga (1198m)
Urenga is the longest of the Ural mountain range in Miass and Zlatoust surroundings. The length of Urenga is about 65km. Urenga is crossed by the highway that connects Zlatoust and Miass, Europe and Asia. This crossing is the highest point of the route 

ЧашковкаChashkovsky Ridge (580m) 
Chashkovsky Ridge is one of the small ridges of the Ural mountains. Its name corresponds to the semicircular cup-shaped form of Chashkovsky ridge. The ridge is at a height of 580m above sea level

ШеломBolshoy (Big) Shelom (1472 m) 
Bolshoy Shelom Big is the highest mountain of Chelyabinsk region. The height of Bolshoy Shelom is 1427m. It belongs to the Zigalga ridge, which is a part of Uraltau. Bolshoy Shelom is located 27km from the town of Katav-Ivanovsk

Mount Yurma is located almost at the very northern part of the National Park Taganay. Yurma is at a height of 1003m.Yurma completes the South Urals; northward of it the mountains of Middle Urals are situated. In 20km to the east of Yurma, if you go along the valley of the River Sak-Elga

ЯмантауYamantau (1640 m) 
The highest top of the South Urals is Mount Yamantau. This is a two-headed peak - Bolshoy Yamantau (1640 m) and Maly Yamantau (1510 m). The massif is located on the territory of South-Ural Nature Reserve in Beloretsky district of Bashkortostan.
